Redefining cooking since 1963

For over 60 years, we have been developing innovative cooking solutions that make our customers’ daily lives easier – with high-quality products, smart technology and innovative cooking methods that bring out the best in every meal and inspire people.

Our history

Eating better, then and now

It all began with a good idea: in 1963, Andrew W. Garfield and Georg Timmermann produced their first cookware made from high-quality stainless steel and sold it in Germany under the name ‘AMC’ a true innovation. The first AMC M25 cookware range was a resounding success: thanks to stainless steel and the innovative methods of cooking without adding water and frying without adding fat, AMC International Alfa Metalcraft Corp. AG was founded in Switzerland – marking the start of the company’s expansion across Europe.

Our history

A wide variety of dishes made using AMC pots and pans

As early as the 1970s, AMC pots and pans made it possible to prepare a wide variety of dishes quickly and easily. However, many people relied on fat to enhance flavour – a problem, as many people wanted to eat more healthily. New ways were needed to prepare healthy and tasty meals – with support and suitable recipes. AMC responded with the M27 series in a new design and founded the AMC Institute in 1978, which developed recipes – for delicious and healthy dishes, completely without added fat.

Our history

A growing demand for healthier and quicker cooking

In the 1980s, fitness and healthy eating became increasingly important, yet foods high in carbohydrates continued to dominate. AMC focused on nutritional education and aimed to make cooking even quicker and easier, so that healthy meals could be incorporated into everyday life. With the M28 series, AMC launched the first temperature-controlled cooking system in 1983 – featuring an Akkutherm capsule base, Visiotherm temperature indicator and the Secuquick pressure lid – for healthy, quick and controlled cooking.

M29 Series – A fresh look and new features for a new decade

In the 1990s, organic products became more popular, and many people started spending more on quality ingredients. Light salads, wholemeal products and international cuisine increasingly replaced fast food. New technologies transformed cooking. AMC launched its M29 range of induction-compatible pots – for safe and energy-efficient cooking. The Audiotherm complemented the Visiotherm with acoustic signals. The Atmosfera also marked the arrival of the first portable hotplate capable of gratinating and baking.

Our history

Change in eating habits

An ever-growing section of the population was changing its eating habits and seeking a healthier diet. This helped the organic boom reach even wider sections of the population. Despite their best intentions, working people in particular found it difficult to find the time to cook fresh meals. Products such as the AMC Secuquick help working people with suitable recipes to put delicious and healthy food on the table in a short time and with little effort. Due to its growing popularity, AMC further developed the pressure cooker lid. Under the name ‘Secuquick softline’, it now even offered two different cooking methods to ensure the best possible programme for every ingredient.

Our history

M30 Series – new ways of cooking

In the 2010s, cooking became a lifestyle – preparing meals together became an event, inspired by TV chefs and new methods such as steaming.

In 2010, AMC launched the premium M30 system – featuring fully automatic temperature and time control. The Audiotherm and the Navigenio portable hotplate automatically adjusted the temperature. The system was complemented by the EasyQuick steaming lid, the Hot Pan with a textured base and the oPan brunch pan.

AMC Cooking System – Where innovation meets enjoyment

With smartphones and constant internet access, cooking habits have also changed. In 2021, AMC launched the M30s smart cooking system with the connected Cook & Go app – for greater convenience and enjoyment in the kitchen. Together with the M30s pot system and the Navigenio portable hotplate, this created a connected system offering complete control whilst cooking. For this, AMC received the Kitchen Innovation Award and the Golden Award – Best of the Best in the small electrical appliances category in 2021.
